Our healthcare client in the Anderson, SC area is looking for a Fulltime Respiratory Therapist for the night shift 7pm to 7am. Multiple openings for 3 (12 h our) shifts – requires rotating weekend call (every other)
RESPIRATORY THERAPIST
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Performs respiratory therapy treatments and diagnostic procedures to provide ventilatory assistance to,
- or evaluation of, patients with acute or chronic respiratory disease in critical, general, and emergency
- care areas for patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatrics.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs respiratory therapy treatments and diagnostic procedures utilizing approved techniques.
- Upon demonstration of competencies, performed procedures may include endotracheal intubation,arterial puncture and cannulation, mechanical ventilation, and all other areas within the scope of Respiratory Care.
- Evaluate and documents response to prescribed treatment, recommending changes to improve the patient’s pulmonary status as indicated.
- Manage and maintain mechanical ventilators, and monitor patient status through compliance changes, flow studies, SpO2 and ETCO2.
- Respond to the psychological and educational needs of patients with respiratory disease.
- Provide respiratory assistance during critical patient situations (codes, rapid response team, trauma).
- Perform diagnostic testing as assigned including pulmonary function testing and six minute walks.
- Lead and monitor patients during pulmonary rehabilitation sessions.
- Function as a charge therapist as needed.
- Clean and disinfect respiratory equipment according to department policies.
- Apply priority system as when instructed, to ensure optimal patient care.
- Attend department meetings and required inservices.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the South Carolina State Medical Board.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board of Respiratory Care
- (NBRC) required at time of hire or:
- CRT (RRT Eligible) – Must obtain RRT credential within twelve (12) months of hire
- CRT (RRT Ineligible) – Must obtain RRT credential within twenty-four (24) months of hire
