Our Massachusetts based client is seeking a Financial Reporting/CDM Consultant for a contract role.

Candidates must be able to work on our W2.

Financial Reporting Consultant Overview
The Financial Reporting Consultant rolls-up to the General Ledger Transformation Team, which is part of the Controllers group within the CFO organization.  The team is leading the charge to improve the efficiency and operations within the General Ledger area, primarily with SAP, CDM & Anaplan technologies. This is a newly formed team and thus provides growth opportunities in operations, support, and data analytics. The role primarily partners with Corporate IT, 3rd party vendors and business users/leaders across the Controllers, Financial Planning & Analysis and Actuarial organizations.

The Financial Reporting Consultant will be responsible for supporting the reporting team in updating Financial Statements documents using Certent Disclosure Management (CDM).  You will be meeting with our business process owners to assess current business processes and propose improved business process solutions. 

Responsibilities

  • Accountability-Delivery & Execution of both short-term and long-term initiatives within Corporate Finance & Controllership domain
  • Business Acumen-Familiar with the companies organizational structures, chart of accounts, business processes and master dataKnowledge of business process and reporting requirements at all levels within the companies
  • Inclusion-Collaborate closely with various teams in CFO Organization, to ensure the accurate recognition of business processes Guides teams in establishing effective business process improvements, key timelines and milestones, and deliverables for successful initiative execution
  • Resilience- Understand how data flows through the financial systems planning appropriately for changes and prioritizing and implementing enhancementsHelp establish & enhance governance and internal control procedures and maintain and consistently improve upon a strong control environment
  • Development-Collaborate closely with teams to ensure accurate recognition of accounting and reporting of various transactions and eventsLearn available functionally within reporting tools to optimize usage and establish best practices
  • Leading Others-Support Change Management efforts including communication plans with stakeholders & project team members
  • Help conduct/facilitate project meetings with project leadership & key stakeholders, taking ownership of meeting agendas/minutes, project documentation, key decisions, and issues/actions
  • Agility-Under guidance, lead process changes in alignment with accounting policy for evaluation and implementation of new GAAP/statutory reporting requirements   
  • Support peer teams as needed
  • Updating reports in CDM with new data sources
  • Assess and propose process improvements options
  • Maintain documentation regarding business processes
  • Act as a liaison between various departments and project managers
  • Communicate recommendations to key stakeholders 

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or another similar field
  • 3-5 years of Financial Reporting experience
  • Experience with Certent Disclosure Mgmt. (CDM), Workiva or similar reporting tools.
  • Strong MS Word and MS Excel knowledge required
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to proactively take ownership of projects and drive to completion
  • Experience in best-in-class control execution/documentation
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Full life cycle CDM implementation along with CDM query and report building
  • Experience in Disclosure mgmt. software such as Workiva, Anaplan etc.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, insurance statutory accounting/reporting and/or experience in Financial Institutions
  • Experience working in a Finance transformational setting & driving change
  • Ability to initiate and/or lead increasingly complex projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of own team
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in future
